Poker player from St. Petersburg Alexei Anisimov became the winner of the opening tournament at the first event of the World Poker Tour in Russia. In the final stage of the WPT Opener with a buy-in of 33 thousand rubles and a guarantee of 30 million rubles, a deal was completed between 5 players, after which the champion title was drawn. After the tournament, Alexey Anisimov said in a conversation with journalists that the game was uneven, but he approached the final table with the desire to take first place: in money, he set himself the goal of playing only in first place. The top 6 also included Viktor Yarilov, Vasily Tsapko, Alexander Krasuntsev and Sergey Medvedev. In 2019, one of the official stages of the World Poker Tour will be held in Russia for the first time. Competitions are held from January 18 to 27 in the Sochi casino. WPT Opener is one of the four key events of the festival. On the final day of the competition, the winners of the WPT DeepStacks, the High Roller and the Main Event will be announced. The total guaranteed prize fund of the event is 184.5 million rubles ($3 million).
