The Austrian authorities are revising the rules governing the gambling industry and creating a new gambling regulator. Speaking in Parliament, the Minister of Finance spoke about the government’s plans to change the current regulations regarding gambling. The functions of licensing and control of operators of the gambling industry will be transferred from the Ministry of Finance to the newly created regulator. In addition, taxes will be increased, a system of restrictions on monthly deposits, bets and playing time of online slots will be created, and control over advertising of the gambling business will be tightened. Together with the change in rules, it is planned to create a national system of self-exclusion of dependent players and the creation of a black list of illegal operators.
