Belgian regulator treats violators of gambling rules with indulgence

The Belgian Gaming Commission reported that in 2020, only 23 operators were prosecuted for not following the rules of gambling in the country. Violators were fined a meager total amount – 60 thousand euros. The Belgian gambling regulator admitted that it had 168 cases of gambling violations pending in 2020, of which 100 were cases that officials did not consider in 2019. At the same time, in 67 cases, the commission refused to prosecute violators, because it either considered there were no violations, or because the period for bringing to responsibility had expired.
