Experts conducted a study of the Russian audience, which is fond of betting on sports events, and reported that in 2018, bookmakers accepted bets from Russian residents for a total of 1.15 trillion rubles.Over the past year, residents of the Russian Federation made rates by 70% more than in 2017, experts said. According to the survey, players from Russia also placed bets both with legal bookmakers and those who do not have a license to operate in Russia. Last year was also an incredibly record-breaking year for the betting business, mainly due to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. During this period, bettors most often used Parimatch, bwin, and Liga Stavov bookmakers for betting. However, 43% of respondents bet on sports events in offshore offices, that is, in bookmakers that do not have the necessary license to operate in Russia. In total, 31 official licenses for the activity of sweepstakes, as well as bookmakers, are available on the territory of the Russian Federation. According to the survey, men aged 25 to 34 with an income of 20,000 to 50,000 rubles were the most likely to bet on sporting events. About 45% of players made bets through the Fonbet betting counter, every fifth player from Russia used 1xBet for bets. Also, 18% of players made bets with the help of the Liga Stavov bookmaker, and 16% used the Leon office. At the same time, the size of one bet in 2018 was about 1,500 rubles, and approximately 4.7 million people bet on a sporting event at least once last year. Recall that the government of the Russian Federation has begun considering a draft law on creating a complete list of events on which bookmakers will be able to accept bets.
