Football clubs in Ireland can enter into sponsorship contracts with bookmakers, the Football Association of Ireland said. At the same time, the organization itself refused such agreements with offices. Agreements between FC and betting companies are their internal affairs as long as they comply with the rules of the Union of European Football Associations and the Football Association of Ireland, the FAI noted. Recall that the UK government is considering the possibility of introducing a ban on sponsorship of bookmakers and sports clubs. This was opposed by representatives of the English Football League. Earlier it became known that Irish politicians want to ban gambling advertising. The Labor Party of Ireland came up with a corresponding initiative. The President of Ireland demanded the same earlier, expressing his concern about the enthusiasm of the country’s residents for gambling. As reported, the Irish legislature proposed to limit the size of the bet in gambling to 100 pounds.
