Bulgaria’s budget revenues from the gambling industry decreased by 8%

Speaking to parliamentarians, Bulgarian Finance Minister Kirill Ananiev said that compared to 2019, tax revenues from the gambling industry in 2020 decreased by 8%. According to him, the main reason for the decrease in tax revenues was the restrictive measures caused by the coronavirus epidemic. The minister explained that the country’s gambling establishments suspended their activities twice. In addition, changes in the legislation of Bulgaria regulating gambling have become an important factor. As previously reported, the Bulgarian authorities sent the national gambling legislation to the European Commission for approval.
