A proposed bill to license and host slot machines in Chile has been approved and passed by the Senate and is now in the House of Deputies. The document contains an initiative to ban the installation of slot machines outside the casino. A possible punishment for violating restrictions is also provided – these can be fines in the region of 15 thousand in dollar terms and even imprisonment. In addition to the questions of where it will be possible and where it will not be possible to place slot machines, the bill proposes to introduce full licensing of all slot machines installed in gambling establishments. The regulator will give operators six months for this, as soon as the law enters into force. Recall that the Chilean government began preparations for the legalization of online gambling back in February of this year 2021. We also note that at the end of May, the Chilean regulator resumed accepting applications for casino licenses.
