Official sources report that the Chilean regulator – SCJ resumes accepting applications for licenses for casinos, which were previously suspended due to the current situation with the coronavirus pandemic. The SCJ – Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego website says that there are currently 12 licenses available for candidates. Both new and existing operators that meet all the necessary requirements can enter the so-called competition for permits. The only exceptions were the operators of two regions – Valparaiso and the capital of Chile. In turn, the current Casino Association in Chile considers this tender illegal, due to the fact that the regulator conducts it in accordance with the law adopted in 2015, and those who received the legalization of their business back in 2005 also have the right to equal opportunities to renew their documents, as it was before. The deadlines for the completion of the tender are also indicated – it is scheduled for October 18 of the current 2021. Recall that in the US state of Massachusetts, they are ready to lift anti-coronavirus restrictions in gambling establishments. We also note that Cyprus is reopening land-based casinos from May 2021.
