Cypriot gambling company OPAP has received permission from the Greek and Cypriot authorities to complete the purchase of Stoiximan Group (headquartered in Athens), a developer and supplier of sports betting platforms and online casinos. OPAP will acquire a 14.52% stake in Stoiximan Group from private owners – and will take it under absolute control. Since earlier, in 2020 and 2019, OPAP managed to concentrate in its hands 84.48% of the shares of Stoiximan Group (outside of Greece and Cyprus – Kaizen Gaming). Earlier it became known about plans to build a casino in Athens instead of an abandoned airport. As reported, the Greek Ministry of Finance unveiled a plan for issuing permits to companies to conduct online gambling. Recall that the state regulator of gambling in Greece has begun preparing a project to create casino resorts, officials planned to receive money for them from investors.
