Cyprus reopens its land-based casinos

The Council of Ministers of the Republic announced the easing of quarantine restrictions for Cypriot land-based casinos. Gambling houses will have to open on May 17 of the current 2021.

The document presented by the authorities indicates the new allowable occupancy rate of gambling establishments – now it will be 30 percent, and from June 1 – half of the pre-Covid norm. At the same time, it is said that all guests and employees of such institutions will have to have an appropriate “health safety” document. It should be noted that betting shops and land-based casinos of the Republic of Cyprus have been in quarantine for almost six months – since November 2020. Due to the improvement of the situation, at the end of the first decade of May, Cyprus partially resumed the reception of foreign tourists, taking into account the observance of all necessary and established security measures. The My Lucky Story publication also reported on the resumption of work of gambling houses in Scotland and England, restrictive measures for Peruvian land-based casinos were also eased, and local gambling houses were exempted from taxation by the Portuguese authorities until 2022.
