“Daughter” of the gambling operator Svenska Spel extended the license for gambling houses

The State Gambling Regulator of Sweden has extended the license for gambling houses to Casino Cosmopol, a subsidiary of the gambling operator Svenska Spel, which is a monopoly of land-based casinos in this country, for five years. Three establishments in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, by the way, have been closed for more than a year due to restrictive measures introduced by the authorities in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. However, experts of the gambling industry drew attention to the fact that the regulator did not inspect the Casino Cosmopol company and did not check whether this company changed the system of control over the cleanliness of business. Back in 2018, Casino Cosmopol was fined 277 thousand euros for violating the requirements for supervision of money laundering obtained by criminal means, experts recalled. Earlier it became known that offshore gambling operators have strengthened their positions in the Swedish gambling market. Recall that the license for slot machines in the city of Sundsvall, which was owned by Svenska Spel, was taken away by the Swedish authorities.
