FC Preston North End, playing in the English Football League Championship, announced the termination of relations with its sponsor – gambling operator 32Red (a subsidiary of the Kindred Group). The reason for such a step on the part of the team, according to its representatives, is the support for the demand to introduce a ban on the sponsorship of gambling companies in football in the country. In the near future, the Preston North End club intends to find another partner who is not associated with gambling. The club admitted that it is difficult to find good sponsors who would support serious financial investments. Earlier, as My Lucky Story wrote, another English FC – Forest Green Rovers – agreed with the demand of the public organization Gambling with Lives to ban gambling sponsorship and advertising of gambling in football. This can be done by the UK government when reviewing gambling legislation. The English Football League opposed such an action by officials. Recall that members of the British Parliament demanded to limit the advertising of gambling on the daytime air of TV channels.
