The turnover of the gambling industry in Kazakhstan has grown to a record 78.6 billion tenge in 2020. This is six times more than in the pre-crisis 2019. This is stated in the report of the analytical company Finprom. It is noted that the maximum growth in the volume of services in the field of gambling and betting was recorded at the end of 2020 (59.3 billion tenge). Experts emphasized another feature: last year, gambling zones were not popular among residents of Kazakhstan. If in 2019 Almaty and Akmola regions, where gambling zones are located, accounted for 86% of the total volume of services, then in 2020 this figure fell to 19.8%. The interest of the players has shifted to Almaty, the Almaty region and the capital of the country, Nur-Sultan. In addition, surveys of residents of Kazakhstan showed that in 2020, one in five respondents named the gambling of one of the spouses as a justified reason for divorce. As My Lucky Story previously reported, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed to the growth of gambling addiction in the country. He called for tough measures against gambling operators for involving children and gamers in gambling.
