The Latvian mass media report that the regulator is dissatisfied with the fact that the sponsor of the Ice Hockey World Championship in Latvia, the betting company Liga Stavok, places its advertising on the ice arena facilities in the city of Riga during matches.The dissatisfaction of the authorities is due to the fact that the Russian bookmaker does not have the appropriate, namely the Latvian license for betting. It should be noted that there are no claims against Liga Stavok regarding advertising placed within the venues of sporting events, as this is permitted by local law. But without the necessary permits, the company can be considered illegal in the country, and, by the way, a year ago – in the month of May 2020, the Liga Stavok BC website in Latvia was officially blocked. The company “Infront Sport & Media” was named as the responsible person for the advertising placement of the bookmaker. Recall that in March 2021, the Ministry of Finance of Latvia demanded significant changes to the gambling legislation – the document contained 47 amendments. Meanwhile, in Russia, a rating of good deeds of bookmakers was carried out, in which the Liga Stavok betting company entered the first honorary top three leaders.
