Norwegian authorities have legally secured the state monopoly on gambling

The Norwegian government has introduced a new gambling law. This important document, according to officials, is needed to ensure responsible gambling and prevent problem gambling. The law also aims to combat offshore gaming operators and provides the Norwegian gambling regulator with new tools to detect, respond to and punish violations. For example, according to the provisions of the document, criminal liability is provided for the sale of gambling products and the provision of gambling services to children and self-excluded gamblers. However, the new law on gambling in Norway, industry experts drew attention to, primarily preserves and strengthens the monopoly position of state gambling operators – Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto. Any other operator and persons associated with it will be fined for attempting to provide Norwegian players with their services.
