Sports betting is legal in Maryland. State Governor Larry Hogan signed into law the relevant legislation, previously passed by Maryland legislators. The document was developed after a referendum held in November 2020 – then the residents of this US region allowed betting in the state. Regional authorities hope that bettors will be able to place bets from the end of 2021. According to the law, gambling operators are provided with four categories of betting licenses for land-based betting shops and one type of license for mobile bets, for which you need to pay from 50 thousand to two million dollars. The state can only issue 60 ground betting licenses. The mobile betting license will only be available to companies that have received betting licenses at land-based bets.
