Proposal on new conditions for sports betting advertising for Russians

It became known that the representative of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Mr. Khamzaev, came up with a new initiative regarding the format of advertising one of the most popular types of gambling – sports betting. The corresponding document was sent to Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of Russia, on May 13, 2021.

In his proposal, Sultan Khamzaev emphasized that despite the fact that casinos are banned almost everywhere in the country (with the exception of special gambling zones), there remains the issue of active betting advertising, which is placed in all types of media. According to the politician, restrictions should appear here in order to warn citizens about possible negative consequences. A member of the Public Chamber proposed to dedicate a quarter of the airtime to advertisements of rates and a quarter of banner space with similar advertising products to warnings.
