The Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit has confirmed that due to the entry into force of the Remote Gambling Act – KOA on April 1, 2021, it will be necessary to prepare for the issuance of 35 permits for online games. Starting from April 1, KSA will start accepting and processing applications for licenses received. They want to prepare them before the launch of the Dutch gaming market, scheduled for October 1 this year, we recall that a different date was originally called – January 1, 2021. Most of these licenses will be awarded to major international operators. In their report, Kansspelautoriteit noted that they have been preparing for innovations since 2019. The goals and ways to achieve them were revised in accordance with the new rules of the market. Once the KOA goes into effect, the regulator will be empowered with new opportunities with illegal gambling activities.
