DGOJ’s claims do not only concern the illegal distribution of online gambling entertainment. The activities of the regulator involve monitoring compliance with legislation in the field of restricting user access to resources that have official permission to work in Spain. In particular, the organization monitors the implementation of the law prohibiting gambling for minors and for persons who have applied for self-exclusion from among the clients of gambling establishments. It also checks the correct operation of the servers of gambling sites and payment systems to exclude cases of operator fraud in relation to resource users. At the same time, from January to September 2018, the activity of 769 organizations engaged in gambling business in Spain was confirmed. The regulator issued 129 new permits and extended 640 licenses, keeping the list of services provided unchanged or expanding. Among the officially registered companies are online casinos, gaming platforms, betting resources, poker rooms, organizers of lotteries, bingo and other entertainment for money. The General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) exercises public control over the conduct of the gambling business in Spain. The organization is engaged in the control, licensing and detection of cases of illegal distribution of entertainment involving bets on money. The efforts of DGOJ representatives are aimed at protecting the interests of gamblers and creating a safe and responsible gaming environment. According to the independent Spanish gambling guide
