In early February 2021, the website of the Tanzanian Gambling Council proposed introducing a new tax levy on bets made online. These fees must amount to 10% of all online sports betting. The list of amendments to the legislation adopted in October 2020 to allow such bets did not include clear amounts of tax fees on the income of gambling operators. The Tanzania Gaming Regulator proposes for consideration new categories of licensing for commercial lotteries and companies that provide services in the field of gambling. Also, gambling operators will be asked to obtain permission to advertise their product or services. As previously reported, the Puerto Rico Gambling Commission began issuing licenses to operators and owners of slot machine businesses in February of this year.
