The Dutch government has again postponed the launch date of the online gambling market. According to Minister of Legal Protection Sander Dekker, preparations will take longer than previously thought. Initially, the online gambling market was planned to be launched on July 1, 2020, then on January 1, 2021, and then a new postponement was announced on March 1, 2021. And here again a new date – October 1. In accordance with the current law on remote gambling, there are four types of online operator license: online casino operation, online poker tournaments, online sports betting, and online horse racing and greyhound racing. The application fee is 45 thousand euros, in case of refusal this fee is not returned to the applicant. Also, the applicant must make a financial guarantee in the amount of 830 thousand euros. Earlier, the Dutch authorities initiated amendments to the legislation to legalize and regulate the activities of online gambling operators.
