The first quarter of 2021 showed a decrease in online poker profits

Gambling News and Lucky Stories

One of the largest gambling operators, Flutter Entertainment, which owns popular brands, including PokerStars and Betfair, has noted a decrease in profits in the first three months of the current 2021.

It should be noted that, according to one of the company’s leaders, the decrease in indicators by eight percent is not unexpected or critical. Since this situation has developed against the backdrop of a sharp increase in revenue for the “quarantine” period of 2020. Due to the pandemic and restrictions on the operation of land-based gambling houses, the client actively searched for entertainment on the Internet, increasing rates for online operators in the first six months of last year. The second half of the year had more stable charts. At the end of 2020, the PokerStars brand noted an increase in the popularity of poker rooms by twenty percent. Some of them showed an increase in profits by almost half, compared with the previous reporting period. Recall that the beginning of the current 2021 was also very profitable for online gambling operators in Italy – according to ADM, online gambling revenue increased by more than 80 percent. In the meantime, Spain has seen an increase in indicators specifically for active online casino customers – those who place bets and play more than once in seven days.
