The government of the Republic of Belarus has adopted a resolution that will regulate the gambling business, as well as the operation of all virtual casinos, the press service of the Council of Ministers reports.The deputies developed special requirements that operators of virtual casinos, sweepstakes and bookmakers in Belarus will have to meet. Owners of sweepstakes, as well as bookmakers who offer their services on the Internet and have the appropriate gambling license, can continue their activities. However, they are also required to make all accepted changes to the current license by April 2021. The government also determined the amount of the guarantee fund. Thus, the resolution states that the fund of virtual casinos should be 2,295,000 rubles, and virtual bookmakers and sweepstakes – 510,000 rubles. In addition, virtual casino funds must be placed on special bank accounts or in other non-bank financial institutions that operate on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The government reported that the new resolution, which concerns the gambling business, will come into force on April 1 this year. It should be reminded that many experts consider it necessary to regulate the gambling industry in Belarus more strictly, and note that gambling has never been so accessible as it is now. Particularly at risk of addiction to gambling are minors in the country.
